After years of waiting and speculation, Magic Leap has finally revealed the release date of their mixed reality glasses. They will be on sale next August and, although at the moment they do not have a definite official price, it is expected to round the 2,000 dollars.
Magic Leap is a startup dedicated to the mixed reality technology that was born in 2011. The company promised unique experiences through the combination of augmented reality and virtual reality, and has gained the confidence of many giants: corporations like Google, Disney, Qualcomm Alibaba or KPCB, among others, have invested about 2.3 billion Dollars to fund your project.
While the initial conceptual videos promised that we could see things like a gigantic blue whale coming out of the ground of a gym, among other wonders, past the time they began to miss tangible demonstrations, and their lack began to put in Doubt Magic Leap's technology.
After years of rumors and speculations, until the end of last year the company did not present their mixed reality glasses, the Magic Leap One. However, even though the hardware was presented, we had not yet seen any real demos of the visualization experience provided by the goggles.
Now, the company has published a series of real demos that show their technology in action, and it has rained the reviews. Then you can see one of these demos so you can buy reality with the conceptual videos.
Although there have been some defenders, the demos have received mainly harsh criticisms, which emphasize the enormous distance between the expectations generated in the conceptual videos and the reality. In response to complaints, Magic Leap CEO Rony Abovitz points out that it is not possible to understand your company's technology before you have tested it.
"For the creator/developer community: We use the video to teach a feature or capability. Any video or half 2d is completely inadequate to offer the experience of a digital luminous field in ML1 ", said Abovitz in a tweet.
