500 Thousand Routers Around the World Threatened Malware Malignant

Approximately 500 thousand router devices around the world threatened to be infiltrated by a new type of malware. This potential arises from the cyber attack that speaks Ukraine. The Government of Ukraine and the Department of Homeland Security (US) have pointed to Russia as the cause behind cyber attacks.


The attack was allegedly linked to a national holiday in Ukraine, Constitution Day, which falls in June, or a UEFA Champions League final match that will take place in Kiev on 26 May. The Ukrainian Security Agency (SBU) warned of the massive hacking associated with VPNFilter that was about to take place ahead of the game.

Malware targets routers and other systems that do not have cyber security protection. VPNFilter is expected to shut down the device and remove other software. Since Russia annexed the Crimea four years ago, some countries have suffered a number of cyber attacks. The most affected country is Ukraine
